Last night, I had the most fantastic experience with our infrared sauna therapy.  I had been feeling like “trash” for almost a week.  My mood was up and down and I was having a great deal of trouble getting up in the mornings.  I love getting into our infrared sauna here at Nirvana but making myself take 30 to 45 minutes to actually sit still and relax has been a really tall order for me.

I went back and forth on it for about an hour before my husband Roger told me to just do it!  You see he is usually the first one to feel the wrath of my toxic behavior when I am just screaming for some detoxification.

I like to get into the sauna at the very warmest that it will go, 151 degrees!  No, it is not uncomfortable or unpleasant because infrared heat heats you from the inside out.  So while you may be getting a 151 degree temperature on the inside, the air is a lovely warm and soothing hot, not unpleasant in the least.  We have many menopausal women come to Nirvana who say “I can’t stand heat!”  We ask them to just try it for 10 minutes; they always are completely blown away and ask “what is this? This is amazing!”

I was quite cold from having a good bike ride in the evening air so it took me about 15 minutes to break a sweat once I got in there.  It is at the point of breaking a sweat where you will really start to obtain the amazing benefits to be had from this therapy so we encourage you to stay in there for 30 minutes once this happens.

Sweat!  Boy, did I sweat.  I came out after a total time of 55 minutes a completely new person!  I went in there aggravated, impatient, and tired and I came out a pleasant, relaxed, and energetic human being.  Best of all, I slept better than I had slept in weeks and awoke this morning bright and ready to roll.

We really have no idea what toxins that we are breathing in or what toxins are in our food and water but it has become obvious to me that I reach a tipping point where my body is on toxic overload.  I have come to figure out that when I start to experience mood swings, or I am in the dumps, or I feel bloated, or I am extremely fatigued this is an indicator to me that I need to have a really good sauna to get me back to where I need to be.

I have made it my goal to get in there at least once a week!  I will keep you posted.
